Rivers State Government Inaugurates N3bn Road Project

Rivers Status Government on Wednesday initiated the rehabilitation and reconstruction of six kilometer stretch of the East-West road venture worth N3 billion.
According to  News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  the road prompts Port Harcourt refinery and Onne Sea Port.

Gov. Nyesom Wike said amid the activity in Aleto-Eleme, Rivers State, that the road was mostly supported by both state government, private and open organizations.

Wike said that the road had been in regrettable condition for a considerable length of time and required earnest intercession.

He said that the state government couldn't sit tight for the Federal Government to repair the road because of the significance the road played on both state and country's economy.

As per him, we can't hold up until the Federal Government mediates; consequently we chose to take the bull by the horn and accomplice with the financial specialists.

"Because of the blocked state of the road; for all intents and purposes all organizations working in the territory are debilitating to haul out. It is basically barbaric and incredible that individuals will be burning through three hours driving from Port Harcourt to Eleme on a road that most assets of the nation originate from."

"All the more imperatively, restoration of this roadt will put to an end perpetual instance of abducting, burglary, blackmail and killings which happen frequently," he said.

Wike said that the road rehabilitation awarded to Reynolds Construction Company would be finished in two years.

The governor uncovered that N1.5 billion would be paid for the first stage, while the remaining would be paid to the contractor when the task came to 80% finished.

NAN learnt the Rivers Government together with Indorama, Intel, West Africa Container Terminal, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Nigeria Ports Authority and Onne and Gas Free Zone Authority are subsidizing the undertaking.
